Attachment Parenting Village Canada Illness Policy

Please remember that our group has many pregnant moms and young babies. Out of respect for all of our members, please follow the guidelines below.

Please do not bring children to playgroup if they have any of the following symptoms:

a.. A fever of 100F or higher
b.. Vomiting within the last 24 hours
c.. Diarrhea within the last 24 hours
d.. Excessive runny nose, or runny nose that could get on hands, toys, or other children
e.. Frequent coughing or sneezing
f.. Any communicable illness which requires treatment

Children are able to return to playgroup when:

a.. The fever has been gone for at least 24 hours without the aid of fever reducers
b.. There has been no vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours
c.. The child has been off medication for at least 24 hours with no symptoms

If you have attended playgroup and your child develops a communicable illness within the next 48 hours, please post to the group to let people know that their children may have been exposed.

Some illnesses that are mild in most children and adults can cause severe illness and death in unborn children. Please be especially vigilant about reporting to the group if your child has or could possibly have illnesses in this category; such as Fifth disease, chicken pox or Rubella.

We look forward to seeing you and your little ones when you are all well again. Please e-mail the group if you need visitors outside of playgroup - some members are happy to share germs to build immunity at the right times in their lives!

Playgroup Health Policy

In keeping with public health guidelines, please respect the following guidelines at playgroup:

Please keep children clothed from the waist down in the hall and in the park.  (We realize that many of us are nudists and hippies, and we also would like to keep our options open for using the playgroup spaces)

Please change diapers in the bathroom, preferably on the change table.  We recommend bringing your own fold-out change pad or disinfectant wipes to ensure that the table is clean before and after use. Please do not change diapers, or have your child use a potty, in the main hall or in the kitchen. Potties must be kept out of the reach of children at all times.

APVCS Advertising Policy PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Friday, 05 March 2010 19:04

In order to avoid clogging up the discussion forums with advertising, the moderator group and the Board of Directors of the Attachment Parenting Village Canada Society (APVCS), has agreed that this is something that needs to be handled off list.

All advertising is limited to members who fulfill ONE of the following requirements:
• Past member of the Yahoo group OR
• Member of apvillage.ca for more than 3 months OR
• 50 posts on apvillage.ca.

All advertising can be initiated by contacting us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

APVillage.ca Username

All usernames on APVillage.ca must be personal in nature and may not refer to your business name or function (ie.  "Bob" is acceptable, "Carpenter Bob" or "Bob's Business Name" or any variations thereof are not).

Signature Lines and Posting in Retail and Service Forums

Signature lines including your business name and/or information are considered advertising and are only permitted once an annual fee of $25 has been paid.  The fee is per person, not per business. If a business has multiple owners, each individual owner is welcome to pay the fee and advertise in their signature. The fee applies to the 12 month period between April 1 – March 31, or any part thereof (rates will not be prorated, but packages purchased prior to April 1, 2010 will expire March 31, 2011). Signature lines are limited to:
1) a link to your website OR business name, address and phone no. and
2) a 10 word tag line/description

After you have paid for your signature, you may post once per month in the paid Marketplace forums (Retail OR Services). This post can contain any and all relevant information to your business and its products and/or services, as well as any other information such as pricing, discounts, etc. In the post, ask for people to communicate with you offlist (i.e., by email or telephone, not as a discussion on the forum).  You will also be able to advertise a discount offer for APVCS members on APVillage.ca.

Home Page Advertisements

Banner advertisements are available at a cost of $50 per month with a maximum of five ads rotating.

Text advertisements (located on the right hand side of the home page) are available at a cost of $20 per month.

Please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information.

Advertising in discussion forums

When members ask about products, services, or looking for ideas (e.g., where can I buy a ring sling, where can I find a preschool, what product/service do you recommend) in any thread or topic, you can answer and refer them to contact you offlist for in-depth discussion.

Payment information

Payment can be accepted by cash, cheque or PayPal. We are not currently registered as a society, so payment is being held in a bank account registered to the APVCS Board of Directors Chair and Treasurer.

If choosing to pay by PayPal, the PayPal address will be provided once you have contacted the advertising committee. Please include the following information:
1. Your username on apvillage.ca
2. Your given name
3. Purpose of payment (signature, text or banner ad)

If all information is not provided correctly, we will be unable to process your payment.

This policy includes paid and free events offered by you or your business or that will benefit you or your business.

This policy does not include parents hosting home parties, such as Tupperware, Discovery Toys, etc.  However, if you are a distributor of home party items (i.e., a Discovery Toys consultant), then you would be considered an advertiser and the above rules would apply.

This policy also excludes personal items that you wish to sell. These can be posted in the For Sale or Trade forum at no cost.

www.apvillage.ca is a community first. We expect that people advertising are also active members of the community, participating regularly in conversations. If you are present in the community, but not active and only posting when responding to threads that allow you to promote your business, this will be considered SPAM, and will be deleted. If this continues, your access to the website will be revoked.

We encourage questions BEFORE you post your advertisement. It is unfair to others who are aware of the rules and observe them, when posts are put up with an apology because people are unsure if it is okay to post. If you don’t know, please ask! If your post does not follow the spirit of this policy, it will be deleted and you will be notified by the moderator team.

Thank you,
The moderator team and Board of Directors
